Rhema in Due Season (RiDs) - Friday 15th February, 2013

THE MESSAGE AND THE MESSENGER

Someone once lamented on his sick bed 'God gave me a message and a horse; I have killed the horse and I am unable to deliver the message. How sad and pathetic. This was true life account of a missionary who overworked himself to the point of exhaustion and died unfulfilled knowing fully well there were several unfinished agenda before him. He was unprepared and very sad to meet his maker with a mandate of 'I failed'.

How many of us are conscious of this important truth. Beloved, whether you like it or not, you are a messenger with a MESSAGE. Just as Martin Luther King had a call to preach true liberation and Mandela's message was to undo the evil of apartheid, you and I also have specific messages for our generation. How do I know that?

Jer 1; 5 God said to Jeremiah 'Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the Nations.

James 5: 17a Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are.

Dear reader, just like Elijah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Esther, Mary and several others who impacted the world and finished well, you also have a mandate to run with and can only deliver it through your available vehicle of ministry. Do not be deceived, Elias was a man of like passion. The fact that he performed several miracles did not suddenly make him a spirit on earth. Elisha in 2 Kings 13 actually died from sickness. I know sickness can arise from many sources but the fact that Elisha was sick and later died also underscores the value of appropriate rest. As a messenger, you are first human and your human body must be in top shape to deliver maximum dividend to your Commissioner, in this instance, God your maker. Herein lies the message of the day.

Firstly, you need to have clarity of the message, because more often than not, the means of delivery has to align to the message. A Music Ministers needs to pay attention to specific things - for instance diet, especially must avoid cold drinks while a footballer must devote time and energy to train and stay healthy. A Potter needs patience and impressive creativity while a farmer needs specific knowledge and resources. The question this morning sir and ma - what is your message?

Do not be deceived, you are not without a mandate. Moses was encouraged to appoint captains over 10, 50, 100, etc. Are you a 'Captain over 10, your assignment is different from a captain over 1,000 and your delivery methods will certainly be different. It is therefore important that you have clarity for the mandate.

Several had made a ship wreck of their message because they never paid attention to the intricacies of their mandate.

Prov 22; 29 'seeth thou a man diligent in his business, he shall stand before Kings and not ordinary men. Beloved, you have a King's business. That's the focus of this message. Find out the master business entrusted to you. Also find out what connotes diligence in that specific business and the Lord will crown your effort with good success.

I leave you with the words of Jesus in John 14; 18 wherein he said 'I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you. Whether you see Him or not, He is forever present to help you - a sure and solid foundation and supporter in time of need. Please, look up to Him at this season. He will not fail you.

Have a blessed, fruitful and restful weekend.

Shalom and Blessings!!!
