Rhema in Due Season (RidS) - Wednesday 21 Nov 2012

Yesterday, we started our meditations on the subject of Faith and there is yet a strong impression within my spirit that there's more to glean from the stable of the all knowing God on the subject matter. We concluded on one fact that faith does not work in isolation. Faith requires some ingredients, some add-ons to be completely fruitful and rewarding to anyone professing and expecting change through faith.

Heb 5: 11 - 14 AMP 'Concerning this, we have much to say which is hard to explain (why) since you have become dull in your (spiritual) hearing and sluggish (even slothful in achieving spiritual insight). For even though by this time, you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the first principles of God's word. You have come to need milk, not solid food. For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought and action), he is a mere infant (not able to talk yet)! But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to (discern) and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.'

I see lots of parallel in the development of the total christian in the above passage and the levels of faith the believer exhibits.

Please come with me as we look closely at the various types of faith.

1. The Infant Faith: this is bread and butter faith mostly seen in new born babies and children unable to speak. A child will cry for attention and the mother will always (most time) respond. As long as the baby is infant indeed, the infant faith will suffice most times for his/her need. Isa 49; 15a - can a woman forget her nursing child...? The truth is that in most instances, the infant faith will guarantees spiritual nourishment to a baby believer. But this is NOT sufficient for the total development of the believer.

2. The Normal/General Faith: this is a type of Faith essentially based on tested knowledge and principles. Sometimes, when it has been used habitually, it becomes impulse or involuntary type of faith. Everybody exhibits the general faith. Examples of general faith are exhibited 24/7. Eg sitting on a chair - you believe that the chair will carry your weight. You believe that the Pilot of the aircraft you are in knows the way and professional enough to navigate the jet liner. Faith based on tested knowledge and principles also has its own challenges. Scholars, Professionals, Doctors always have a problem exercising faith unless offcourse it has been tested and proven factually. Unfortunately, this type of faith is contrary to the faith that moves mountain. It is good only for the physical things. Not good enough to please God.

3. The Mustard Seed Faith: Matt 17: 20 - So, Jesus said to them, because of your unbelief. For assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
The mustard seed faith is the first level of spiritual faith. It comes with conversion. However, like every seed, it may become a forest if properly planted and nurtured or rot away and die. You and I received the mustard seed faith at conversion. However, it may easily be lost unless it is used. There are many believers out there who have completely lost their mustard seed faith. The enemy had robbed them of this foundation for miracles and blessings. For any reader in this category, I plead for mercy. Since God's mercy always prevail against judgement and every lawful captives shall be delivered, I command the devil to let go of your mustard seed faith and I command a restoration in Jesus mighty name, Amen.

I learnt French in primary school. I even got prizes for excellence in the subject but today, I can barely communicate in French. On paper, I was excellent but in real life, I'm zero. This is the crux of the matter!!!

Dear reader, where are you and what's your reading of the Lord's spiritometer?

In the eyes of man, mustard seed faith could never move a stone, talk less of the mountain. Herein lies the problem with exercising our faith. The Lord's declaration in Matt 17; 20 above is to convey to us the capacity and ability of the mustard seed faith. It can move mountain! Yes, it can become a forest, absolutely!!! But you have to use it. What you don't use become rusty, lost and forgotten.

May I ask you as we close, what happened to your mustard seed deposit? In all your getting, get back your mustard seed faith and begin to use it. Do you know that the only type of faith that the Holy spirit gives to all believers is the mustard type? What becomes of that faith thereafter is dependent on usage.

Let's continue to ponder on these thoughts.

Shalom and Blessings.
