Topic: Desperate Prayers
Text: Mark 10:46-52
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
Why do people pray?
We need to pray because of the spiritual controls the physical.
What happens in the physical has been predetermined in the spiritual.
In Job Chapters 1 and 2 - There has been a discussion between God and the devil.
God is the greatest of all Spirits - Genesis 1:1, Psalm 24:1, Isaiah 66:1.
He created all
He owns all
He controls all
The created of all, Owner of all and Controller of all gives an advise in Jeremiah 33:3.
Categories of Prayers
Casual Prayer - are prayers you prayed at night when you are tired.
Regular Prayer - Mathew 6:10-13
Desperate Prayer - it is a prayer without fail it will bring a turnaround. - 2 Kings 4:1-7.
1. When praying desperate prayers - No protocol observed. You go straight to what is pressuring on you.
Genesis 32:24-30
2. Desperate prayers will bring immediate answers.
Desperate prayers are always violent - Mathew 11:12, Mark 2:1-12.
"All the problems you have been carrying about will end this night"
Mathew 15:21-28 - Desperate people are the who has gotten to the final bus stop (people that everything has failed).
"That which is upper in your heart, you will get it tonight"
The greatest characteristic of Desperate Prayers
It arrest the attention of heaven - Colossians 1:16-17.
You attract the attention of whom never fails.
Altar Call - John 9:31, Isaiah 59:1-2.
You pray Desperate Prayers
When there is no plan B
When it is a matter of Now or Never
When it is a matter of Life and Death
